Juvenile Crime

Juvenile crimes are similar or the same as those for adults. However, the penalties, procedures and the goals of Juvenile Court are quite different. One of the most notable distinctions is that juveniles are not entitled to a trial by jury, all trials are set before a Judge.

A juvenile can be charged with either a felony or misdemeanor. Depending on the severity of the crime, the State can decline a case and it would be held in an adult court. Many of the procedural rules for Juvenile Court can be found here.

Juvenile crime can have far reaching collateral consequences for future work and schooling. Most young adults are not fully aware of the magnitude of their actions and simply do not deserve tough sentences.

Others may be struggling with cognitive disabilities that are at the core of the problem. Having a young adult in counseling may often address many of the issues.

A skilled juvenile defense attorney will negotiate with the Prosecution for rehabilitation instead of jail time in a juvenile detention center. Having an experienced criminal attorney there to fight for your child’s freedom, Constitutional rights and attempt to get the charges dropped or reduced is essential.

At Evergreen Defenders our practice areas for juveniles include: Assault, Drug Possession and Distribution, Computer Crimes, Vandalism, Possession of Marijuana, Theft, Fraud and all other Juvenile Offenses. In addition to being formally charged of a crime, you should still call us even if your child has not been formally charged but has been accused of a crime.

What Clients Say

Our teenage son got in trouble being with the wrong people at the wrong time. We had hear about Sharon and went to see her Surprising to us is how he warmed up to her and told her what was going on. I do not know how she did it Our son trusts no one. Sharon has a way about her that I can describe only as magical. She has no time for foolish thinking and has the guts to point out faulty reasoning to our son that he not only heard, when we left her office he agreed with her. I wish we can take her and her staff with us for our son. The people that work for her, Bryson and Pat are exceptional. They are a well coordinated team.

Sometimes you just stumble upon the best person for the job. I was in the thick of school issues and facing charges of possession on a national park. She just pulled me back on my feet, told me everything was going to be alright and poof! Two weeks later, the day before I was scheduled for court Patti Rang me up and told me the charges were dropped. It’s tough to even describe how thankful I am to her, a true miracle worker!

Sharon and her staff were amazing! They were all very responsive and knowledgable. I felt very relieved and confident because they all were on top of everything. I would recommend her to anyone that needed help. I really appreciate everything she has done for me as well as her staff.
